Why are you used in wedding rings? What does the W mean?

The W means Wolfram, it's earlier name in German.

Even though Tungsten is used in light bulbs, why is this a bad thing? Is there a better alternative and why?

they are commonly called incandescent light bulbs and they give off carbon dioxide which is bad for the environment. A better alternative is fluorescent light bulbs because they do not require as much heat to work and therefore do not give off much less or no carbon monoxide at all.
