 Ode to Platinum

Platinum this, and platinum that.
It's more rare than gold , and that's a fact.
It's silvery, white, ductile, and malleable.
It conducts stuff that's electrical.
"Platina" means "Little Silver".
Its durability is really killer.
Pt, it's symbol, stands for perfectly toned.
Other elements don't compare, they always get owned.
Platinum has a lot of compounds.
It's found in Africa, and some other towns.
Girls like it because it's real expensive.
It's awesomeness is so intensive.

Overview:

My name is Platinum and I was born in Peru. I am used in various types of jewelery such as rings, bracelets, and necklaces. I can also be found in ipods and iphones, car exhaust, and dental crowns and caps. I am a silvery grey color and I'm even more rare then gold. If you want to find me, your best shot is the dentist, the jewelers, and if you're lucky, deep in mines. My melting point is 1768 degrees Celcius and my boiling point is 3820 degrees Celcius. I am malleable and ductile. Even at a high temperature I do not oxidize in air.

And i must admit... Sometimes I play hide and seek with the miners who try to find me underground, so that makes me a bit more expensive also... :)

Why are you so expensive?

I'm so expensive because I'm more rare than gold and silver. I am also high in bridal demand because people like the look and shine of platinum jewelry.

Why might I want a platinum wedding ring over gold or silver?

Platinum said

You may want me as your ring because I have a natural, unfading white color and shine. I'm also less likely to look worn or scratched than gold or silver because I'm harder wearing.

Dear Gold,
You are my compound-ian.... :) We spend so much time together in the jewelers, and I just wouldn't be the same without you.
Love,
Platinum

Though you may be more expensive, i'm still more reactive. You may be used in jewelry everywhere, but i react with air, water, halogens...

Doesn't that make you dangerous to be around?
