Status update:

at least 3 updates

This just in i'm checking in from the biggest resource on Earth, water.

I'm checking in with my body Hydrogen here.

i'm in my body's house, sulfur, and its awesome.

Overview:

3-5 sentences about the elements. (physical and chemical properties)

I am a chemical property and my atomic number is 8. I am one of the high reactive non-metals on the periodic table. I am also more soluble in water vs. nitrogen. I am also a necessary thing to all living things.

Information:

Relationship Status: I am currently in a relationship with hydrogen and our sons name is water.

Parent: Joseph Priestley, Carl Wilhelm Scheele, Antoine Laurent Lavoisier

network: non-metal

valence electrons: 6

reactivity: extremely reactive
state of matter: gas
Location on Periodic Table: In the oxygen group

Birthday: 1774

Hometown: Wiltchire, England

Group: 6A/ oxygen group

Activities & Interests:

2-3 sentences about the elements. (physical and chemical properties)

I like to surround everything on Earth. I provide life to everything that breathes in oxygen on Earth. I also like to mix with Hydrogen to form water that is neccesary for everything living thing on Earth.

Places:

"check in" with at least three places the element can be found

In water in animals and in the atmosphere

What is ozone?

Oxygen said

Ozone is a form of oxygen located in the atmosphere. It has a weird odor like chlorine made when light passes through it. Also it absorbs ultraviolet rays so they can't reach the Earth.

Nice reactivity with hydrogen. Hope your water is all right.

Beryllium said

at 9:51 pm on Oct 27, 2012

Yeah, your water might become toxicated if I combine with fluoride compounds to create beryllium fluoride, which can EASILY dissolve in water.

I react with you to form soda! (Not the soft drink!) Soda is used to make glass.

Lithium said

at 9:34 pm on Oct 28, 2012

I heard you react to me and my other friends, the Alkali Metals.

Lithium said

And make oxides, peroxides, and superoxides.

Mercury said

at 6:24 pm on Nov 3, 2012

Hey Oxygen! How could you forget to call me? We have a daughter, you know! Does the name Mercury Oxide ring a bell? I hope it does because she is just as much your daughter as she is mine because we reacted to form her.

Boron said

at 5:07 pm on Nov 4, 2012

hey Oxygen you and me make boron trioxide. cool huh

Lead said

at 6:43 pm on Nov 4, 2012

Hello oxygen! It's nice to find someone I've already reacted with to make lead oxide. :)

Aluminum said

at 7:10 pm on Nov 4, 2012

Hey there! remember me? it's aluminum.... we used to make compounds together! I was wondering if you want to make some alpha alumina again. that would be so much fun! well, if you want to reply, i'll be in some reynolds wrap.

Hydrogen said

at 8:09 pm on Nov 4, 2012

Hey! We kinda make a key COMPOUND to the humans for their survival . . . maybe we should stop reacting with each other.

Titanium said

at 8:11 pm on Nov 4, 2012

I know all the "oxides" you form can be hard to keep track of, but don't forget that, with me, you make titanium dioxide!

Selenium said

at 9:11 pm on Nov 4, 2012

Oxygen, guess what we form? Selenium dioxide gives glass a red color!

Thalium said

at 12:27 am on Nov 5, 2012

Hi, Oxygen! It's Thallium! We react with each other to form balck, powdery substances!
Our compound is called Thallium oxide..
Isn't cool? And WOW~ you react with a lot of other elements! It's really interesting..

Nitrogen said

at 7:53 am on Nov 5, 2012

Hey oxygen its Nitrogen. Did you know when lightning strikes, we combine and form nitric oxide?

Gold said

at 12:12 am on Nov 7, 2012

wow, you sure do combine with a lot of elements to form compounds. You combine with me to form gold trifluoride and gold pentafluoride.

Beryllium said

at 8:27 pm on Nov 7, 2012

you're really reactive!
